About Wanderlights

Wanderlights are designer candles like you’ve never seen before; floating on their wick, made from an authentic recipe, and color palettes you can only dream about. An innovative concept for design lovers who want to be amazed, every day.

Originated from a creative and enterprising design heart, designed by Paulien Berendsen, co-founder of IXXI, design agency Studio Parade and furniture brand Vrienden. She playfully searched for an innovative use and design of a candle.

The wick

The innovative wick not only creates the flame but can also sustain it without burning out. The candles burn down and you can keep refilling them. A candle flame reaches 1400 degrees, which is why this wick requires refractory high-temperature and heat-resistant material. This unusual application intrigued a manufacturer who specially developed this thin wick. You can imagine the euphoria when a flame was ignited for the first time and the candle continued to burn!

The candles

To properly burn candles on this specific wick, wax with a high melting temperature is required. A recipe has been developed and carefully tested in collaboration with a major candle manufacturer. The colors and diameters are also coordinated in such a way that the candles burn beautifully. Wanderlights are handmade with love and care in Paulien’s studio.

Wanderlights x Cor Unum

Each Wanderlight is equipped with a ceramic disk to collect candle wax, produced by Cor Unum. A collaboration that goes back to the core and power of craftsmanship. Both are located in the heart of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, full of passion for craftsmanship. A perfect basis for joining forces. The high-gloss dishes are available in four different colors.

“The Wanderlight adds warmth to our interior in the broadest sense of the word. The candle as a floating element is a surprising dimension in the whole.”
